CALL 'EM OUT
Eliot Durant
The Grande Library Vampire @ [personal profile] amnesiak (age: 18 immortal)

SHORT: Once a French orphan with an extraordinary memory, Eliot was kidnapped and given an ultimatum: Become a vampire or be killed by them. He joined the Durant Family and soon became their sole survivor. His bloodline is immortal and has psychic abilities, but Eliot's primary job is to memorize art and history. He is purposefully starved and kept useless, because his bloodline has frightening potential.
In the modern era, Eliot uses self-hypnosis to give himself temporary amnesia. By playing the melody of his pocket watch, Eliot can unlock hundreds of years worth of memories and grief. When the melody is played backwards, he wipes his memory and becomes a spacecase.

Uai
A Glitch in the Omniverse @ [personal profile] ubiquitously (age: mid 20s immortal)

SHORT: Snarky, cold, music lover. He is fated to die and resisting said fate. In his early twenties, Uai has/had two daughters and a girlfriend.

Uai is a type of ascended magician, who can travel between realities. He is also fated to bring about a great calamity, but has stubbornly resisted his assigned fate since learning of it. The result is that Uai is something called a "Glitch," and is gradually corrupting into a monster. His true form is a skeletal dragon, which represents the death he has been evading.

Normally a Glitch like Uai would be killed by other magicians on the spot, but he's quite lucky. The Grande Librarian, who oversees the many worlds, has taken quite a liking to him. Alyce took him as her assistant and has therefore stayed his execution.

While Alyce is absolutely smitten with him, Uai is searching for a way to cure his glitched state. He has a family back home, including a girlfriend and two daughters, whom he is desperate to return to. Though the Library Assistant is supposed to kill Glitches on the Librarian's behalf, Uai tries his best to save them first. He has yet to succeed.

Personality-wise, Uai is snarky and not very nice. He'll be polite until it doesn't suit him and tries to brush off relationships that don't seem productive. He's weak for a love story. His hobbies include composing music, but he's too shy to sing anymore. Despite his prickly demeanor, Uai cares about people and knows that his bleeding heart is a weakness. He tries to keep others at an arms' length so that he doesn't get sidetracked.

He's generally very devoted to his girlfriend and children, but needs to let them go. His fate in that world is to die and he ultimately has to accept that they can live without him.

Yumeno, Yuuto
The Heroine's Lost Son @ [personal profile] spacialeyes (age: 15-19)

SHORT: The son of the woman who essentially saved his home world. Who also became a goddess. Yuuto has had a lot to live up to. He's also been claimed by the Kami of Space, as part of a deal that his mother made to save the world. As a result, he has been able to travel between worlds since he was a child. But he doesn't have the ability to backtrack.

Yuuto is a very happy sort of person. He believes that for every tragedy, a miracle of equal proportion will exist. He has an open heart and befriends people easily. But Yuuto has a bad habit of leaving sad timelines to escape to their happier alternative. He has been fleeing from the fact that his mother will die and his family will fall apart since he was able to walk. And he no longer knows how to return home. His poor coping mechanisms become combined with his mounting guilt; Why is every timeline he visits sad? Is it really his fault?

Afraid to admit the truth, Yuuto keeps running and using superficial relationships to hide from his grief. He wants to save and help people like his mother did, but doesn't have the emotional maturity to do so.
Yamato, Shi - "Shiro"
The Kami of Misfortune is a Dead Child @ [personal profile] stillsmiling (age: 11)

SHORT: If you believe in something hard enough, you can give it power. In the case of Shi, an orphaned child living in a fishing village, the people around him strongly believed that he was cursed. He eventually came to carry this curse and, after he was killed, became a dead zombie god.

Shiro is wandering his world in search of a home. He's a sweet child for sure, with an interest in composing music and knack for homemaking-- and destroying. Though a path of destruction marks his path, he is determined to one day find happiness. If he doesn't, then what did those who loved him die for?

Yamato, Shi - "Yoshiya"
The Dead Child Became a Dead Teen @ [personal profile] maskedsmile (age: 16)

SHORT: The same boy as above, but a few years later.

After the Great Spirit Revelation, spirits and kami have become household topics. Shiro is trying to escape his old identity and now calls himself "Yoshiya." In this new modern world of spirits, many of them try to earn positive attention by acting as superheroes. Yoshiya wants to redefine himself as a blessing, so is trying to harness his misfortune power for 'good.'

It's not going great... But recently, a young woman named Satou found him and has taken him under her wing. He's afraid to get close to people, but the kindness of the Kuroneko family is slowly drawing him in...

Yumeno, Shugo
The Nerd Who Bruises Easily @ [personal profile] goldenmage (age: 16 or mid 20s)

SHORT: As a mortal magical boy, Shugo is the son of two magical girls and the lone 'man' in his family. When he was fourteen years old, Shugo learned that he had magical powers. But his mothers forbid him from learning to use them until he was sixteen. Fortunately, the girl he had a crush on came back into his life around then and became his private magic tutor.
Unfortunately, Shugo only learned defensive magic. He's incapable of hurting others back and ends up getting killed in a fight to the death.

As the Embodiment of Curiosity, Shugo is an omnipotent being that wants answers to every question. He visits other worlds to learn about them and master their forms of magic, then leaves. He's a blend of arrogant and humble: He believes he can learn any ability, but realizes that he will never learn everything. When one Shugo dies, he becomes a star. Another Shugo then comes along to collect his old life experiences. This cycle is always ongoing.

As the Kami of Rebirth, Shugo is possessed by a spirit that can revive the dead. His Kami suffers from a lack of faith, so his power has become weaker over the centuries. Shugo can heal wounds at the cost of his own energy and needs to nap after big heals. He also has the ability to create fire and burn living things to death, thus recycling their bodies in the classic circle of life.
This version of Shugo is in his mid-twenties and has adopted Omichron Yumeno. His future son, Yuuto, has become a stressful haunt around the house. Shugo buries his head in books to avoid his relationship problems.

Mikale Reed
The Embodiment of Devotion @ [personal profile] shadowsher (age: 16 or 20s)

SHORT: As a mortal magical boy, Mikale is a mess. He has been escaping awful home situations for a long time and finally ends up living with his best friend, Satou... She's also the person he was hired to kill four years ago. Now 16, Mikale is trying to redefine himself in a positive way. He comes off as confident and reckless when around those he trusts, but is meek and uncertain on his own. Above all else, Mikale deeply hates himself and wants to become anyone else.

As an omnipotent magician, Mikale is one of the few who cannot travel between worlds. He exists outside of time and space, usually in the company of Satou or Shugo, and watches mortal lives unfold. The most that he can do is send his mortal selves visions of the future. Mikale wishes he could save Satou from her self-sacrificing nature, but his devotion has yet to outpower her blind love.

In the world of spirits, Mikale is a (sometimes former) spirit hunter. Though he's a normal human, he has contracted a few spirits to help him in his hunt. Mikale eventually comes around to the family life that Satou is selling. He helps look after the orphans created by his former employer and wants to make the world a kinder place.

"SATOU"
The Kami of Love & Destruction @ [personal profile] ai_nnihilate

SHORT: She loves people so much that it hurts them.

Kuroneko, Satou
The Witch of Sin @ [personal profile] stubbornhope

SHORT: Let's hug it out or punch it in the face, idk, we'll decide when we get there?

Omichron "CHRON" Yumeno
The Cursed Child @ [personal profile] omichron

CW: Child Abuse

SHORT: In a world where spirits turn faith into power, a "Sacred Child" is a human who takes on a god's power and earns faith on their behalf. Omichron is an experimental Sacred Child, forcefully bonded to a rumor and terrified to use her new powers against her caretakers. She grows up with strong psychic abilities and ruled by fear.

That is, until she is rescued by Shugo and Satou. Swiftly adopted as their daughter, "Chron" begins to carve out a new place for herself. She has a lot of pride in her new family and a strong sense of justice to match. Chron spends her early teens wanting to live up to the expectations of being a heroine's daughter, but gradually eases up on this self-imposed pressure. She may be stern and stingy with her affections, but she is intensely loyal to the select few who earn her trust.

Her psychic powers tend to manifest in the form of superstrength. Her red eyes are a side effect of the experiments from her childhood and mark her as a "Cursed Child;" the popularized term for the children rescued from those early experiments. She is used to people recognizing her from the news and pitying her, which she hates.

Silicon
The Wandering Homunculus @ [personal profile] immortalsoul (age: 20)

SHORT: In the kingdom of Sevia, magic is used to give thanks to the Creator and their royal family. Alchemy is used to 'fix' what the Creator has given, as if to imply that the world could ever be imperfect! And in that world, Silicon is a human created not by her world's god, but by the arrogance of humans.

Silicon's soul cannot leave her body, but will instead repair any damage done to her. She is practically immortal. Her magic gift is artificial and she relies more on 'alchemy' to create her miracles. Alchemy involves taking magic from other things (such as plants or animals,) and creating potions from them.

Once, this naive and cheerful girl was locked in a tower by the royal family. She was supposed to marry their prince and introduce her immortality into the royal bloodline. But instead, Silicon fled the kingdom and has been on the run since. She doesn't let the fact that she's an illegally created fugitive stop her from enjoying life, though! Silicon may live infinitely, but she values every second of it! Sometimes her boundless curiosity can get her in trouble, but usually the answers make her a stronger and more rounded person... so it evens out! Right?

Akane Honda
A Normal Human Amidst Immortals @ forgotten journal name eeyyyy

SHORT: A completely normal human.

He has four siblings that he helps raise alongside his single mother. Until recently, they were living on Hawaii due to his (now deceased) father's business. Recently, they've moved to the town of Crossings on mainland USA. His family, the Hondas, were tasked with guarding a certain Moon goddess (Saki.) When Saki wandered to the USA out of boredom, his aunt was forced to follow after her. Now that Akane's aunt has died, the job of looking after Saki fell to his mother.

But raising five kids and looking after a goddess is a lot of work. Akane has taken it upon himself to look after Saki instead. He attends high school with her now (it's a long story) and helps out in student council. Akane is fully aware of the supernatural in a world where it's an otherwise well kept secret. He has a rebellious streak, tends to tease anyone and everyone, and is overall kind of obnoxious. But at his core, Akane is an overprotective older brother.

He has a growing crush on Saki. Where she is very restrained with her emotions, Akane is very perceptive and acts out on her behalf.

Saki Shiroyume
A Perfect Moon Princess @ [personal profile] moonfalling

SHORT: The princess of the moon. Those of the moon kingdom are perfect beings; They feel no anger or sadness, but at the cost of feeling no joy or happiness either. They are essentially emotionless dolls. Saki felt curiosity one day and decided to visit Earth, but literally caught feelings as a result. Her heart is now heavy with the burden of emotions and she can no longer fly back to the moon.

That was hundreds of years ago. Her ability to manipulate the tides and weather earned her a reputation as a goddess. Saki was at first worshipped, but gradually began to mingle among humans. Only the Honda family knew her identity and they were charged with looking after her.

In the modern era, Saki attends high school and takes potions to soothe her heart. She's otherwise easily overwhelmed by her emotions. Saki has a hard time understanding herself and resort to smiling. Always. Smiling.

accidentallich: (and when the heart is quiet)

a dumb boy

[personal profile] accidentallich 2022-01-19 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[It is a late afternoon in mid-fall, and the street is currently pretty empty except for one magical boy and one person who is covered entirely in... either a robe or just a blanket, it's kind of hard to tell. Not exactly the most inconspicuous of outfits.

One more thing that's difficult to do when entirely covered is see where the heck you're going, which is why the small, somewhat lumpy figure bumps into the only other person here.]

S-sorry, excuse me...
